The rift between the Trudeau government and former Attorney General, Jody Wilson-Raybould may be growing.

Bill Wilson, the father of Jody Wilson-Raybould and a B.C. Chief posted an interesting message on Facebook defending his daughter in the recent SNC-Lavalin scandal.

That scandal, according to the Globe and Mail, involved the Prime Minister's Office attempting to, and failing to press Jody Wilson-Raybould into potentially swaying a case involving SNC-Lavalin, a company with a long history of breaking the law, in order to donate to the Liberal party.

The PM has denied "directing" Jody Wilson-Raybould, while the leader of the opposition along with some legal professors have called for an open inquiry into the allegations.

Mr. Wilson writes, "Wish that I could protect my daughter, JODY, in this coming storm, but then I remembered that she is more than able to defend herself. History will prove that she did the right thing. - Her DEMOTION makes sense now, UGLY POLITICAL SENSE. "

Outside of this, in a recent CBC article, Mr Wilson commented:

“If she or I had been purchasable at some point in time in our political career it never happened, it didn’t happen and will never happen. If this mess comes out as messy as I imagine it might be, she will be one of the few people that won’t get any dirt on her.”

He furthermore noted that his daughter’s removal from the Attorney General post was a “kick in the teeth,” adding, “I found that not only was it insulting, but politically stupid.”

He also said this about the Trudeau government: “Any of the aspirations they make under reconciliation, as far as I am concerned, are a farce… another shadow dance around the table with another Trudeau.”

Interestingly, Mr. Wilson actually took on Justin's father in 1983 during the constitutional conference on native rights. Where he and other
Indigenous leaders managed to successfully negotiate an amendment to Canada’s Constitution. Section 35 of the Constitution Act, 1982 subsequently enshrined Indigenous title to traditional lands and treaty rights as well as equality of Indigenous women.
